Lawrence Taylor Arrested Leaves Scene of Accident
Miami, FL – Retired NY Giants linebacker, Lawrence Taylor, was charged Sunday with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, a second-degree misdemeanor, according to Miami-Dade County jail records. Police believe Taylor hit another car and then a guard rail and then drove away from the scene. We’re told no one was injured.
Police report that Taylor was very cooperative when he was arrested and he was eventually released later that night on $500 bond. It was not known at the time if Taylor hired a lawyer.
Taylor has a history of substance abuse, but Miami police told TMZ that the NFL star looked completely sober when he was arrested late last night.
Police told TMZ that when they found Taylor, he was standing outside of his car which was missing a front tire. The tire was found at the scene of the crash which means Taylor may have driven several miles on just the axle.
Taylor, who has been arrested twice on drug-related charges in the past, was so coherent when he was arrested for hit-and-run last night, that officers didn’t feel the need to perform a sobriety test.
Taylor, recently competed and was eliminated before the finals on last season’s “Dancing with the Stars.”
Taylor is also a spokesman for Nutrisystem.
Man Arrested for DUI While Drunk Driving La-Z Boy Chair
DULUTH, Minn. — A 62 year old Minnesota man was arrested for DUI while driving drunk on his motorized La-Z Boy chair. Dennis LeRoy Anderson says he wrecked his ride because he was trying to pop a wheelie and blamed the girl he was carrying for throwing off his balance.
The added weight of the passenger coupled with the wheelie, tossed the girl from the chair causing Anderson to slam into a parked car.
According to a report from “The Age”, the man told “police he left a bar in the northern Minnesota town of Proctor on his chair after drinking eight or nine beers.”
A criminal complaint says 62-year-old Anderson told police he left a bar in the northern Minnesota town of Proctor on his chair after drinking eight or nine beers.
Police said the chair was powered by a converted lawnmower and had a stereo and cup holders.
Sixth Judicial District Judge Heather Sweetland stayed 180 days of jail time Monday and ordered two years of probation for Anderson. Anderson’s attorney is David Keegan.
Donte Stallworth Pleads Guilty To DUI Manslaughter
s.Dante Stallworth appeared in court Tuesday and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. He will also serve two years house arrest, 1,000 hours of community service and will be on probation for eight additional years. In addition, he already reached a financial settlement with the family of the victim, Mario Reyes, and will avoid a civil lawsuit.
Stallworth hit a pedestrian—who may or may not have been jaywalking—after leaving a bar on March 14, but did not try avoid responsibility or guilt.
Everyone involved seemed to be eager to see this case end and whatever deal Stallworth got has to be significantly better than the 15 years he faced in prison if convicted. A spokesperson for the state’s attorney says that even the victim’s family just wants it to be over with.
There’s no way to know at this point how the jail term will affect his football career.
